MY NAME IS JOHNNY HANNAY.
I have been in the fitness industry for over 20 years, and have spent the last 18 as a trainer in gyms in Arizona and Texas.
I am an ONNIT, NASM CPT, NASM MMA Conditioning Specialist, Golf Conditioning Specialist, a certified nutrition specialist with Precision Nutrition, and am certified in Pre- and Post-natal exercise, Kettlebells, and Trigger Point mobility. I have also completed the Box n’ Burn boxing certification.
My background in fitness though goes have further than just my professional experience. My dad was concerned with how undersized I was as a kid, and like a lot of dads do, introduced me to his old weight set in the garage.
And it started me on a journey that not only changed my life, but probably saved it a few times as well.
I began competing in bodybuilding at 16, and would do so successfully for the next 25 years. In 2011, I switched to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and have been competing in that sport ever since. I have also trained athletes in both of those sports successfully.
I think one of the most important facets of a trainer is empathy. A trainer has to know the ups and downs of goal setting to be able to navigate a client through the challenges that may face them on the path to their own goals. It’s also important for a trainer to have a working body of knowledge on not only kinesiology and exercise science, but also on the larger fitness industry, to help a client understand the difference between actual science, and the “next big thing” in fitness trends. And those are some of the things I want to help you with.
